Curve Studio is designing the landscape at Stølen Respite Center in Haugesund

Stølen Respite Center aims to meet the needs of families receiving respite services by providing a safe and secure environment in small groups, where children experience a sense of belonging and enjoy an active leisure time. The project's framework emphasizes children's needs for privacy and support in pursuing personal interests and development, while also ensuring the facility serves as a shared meeting place for all visitors.

The respite center will be established in the building of the former Stølen Nursing Home. The design of the outdoor area will be based on the desire to reduce the institutional feel and add homely qualities, with a strong emphasis on creating green surroundings that offer meaningful experiences. The building's context — a quiet residential area with easy access to nature trails and recreational activities — provides excellent conditions for a successful and holistic environment.

Haugesund Municipality is the project owner, and construction is scheduled to begin in 2026.
